Friday Fragments 18 June 2010

TGIF y'all! I'm fragmenting two in a row!! Woohoo! If you'd like to join Mrs 4444 for Friday Fragments, click her name or click the pretty button :)

Mommy's Idea

** Its already Friday morning... And here I am, tying to fragment my week.... Lets see how this goes... ;)

** The hubby and I went to register on Saturday and Sunday last weekend. We started out at a Walmart about an hour away from here. We figured they'd be less picked-over than the Walmarts around here... Well, we got there only to find out that this particular Walmart doesnt have the scanners/machines to let people register INSIDE the store. The nearest one, well, hubby had given up as soon as they said we don't do it here... So, we didn't register at Wallyworld. The clerk told us that we could do it online. Well, duh. But I want to see, touch, feel stuff that I'm registering for. UGh
Our second stop on Saturday was Target. Had a good experience there. But didn't register for a whole lot. Most important was a little Space-saver High chair... =)
Third and final stop was BabiesRUs on Sunday. We scanned everything under the sun there! LOL We really had a good time and played and felt how soft stuff was and all that jazz.

** After registering, we went to supper to celebrate hubby's birthday. We stopped at a Japanese hibachi steakhouse. Never been there before. We sat with strangers. One single guy sat beside me, then there was a family of 5 which consisted of mom, dad, son, grandma and grandpa. We ate, we laughed at the cook, which was one of the best we've ever had, and then it was time to pay and leave. Somehow, us being in the Army came in conversation (which it always does somehow, whether by uniform or hubby's haircut or stance gives it away). I went to the restroom and so did the mom of the family. When I came back, hubby says, "the guy on the end paid for ours." (the dad of the family) =O WOW. Seriously? Really? Who does that these days? But, how awesome! I'm still somewhat shocked. When we left, they told us congratulations and thanks for serving. (they also knew we are expecting) Coolest birthday gift ever, right? =)

** The pup, Rigsby, got a haircut. Poor dog cant get a symmetrical cut EVER. So then we are left with a jacked-up cut that we try to trim to make it look better... Its always interesting. I wish I had a picture of hubby trying to trim the dog's hair! LOL

** My dad calls me last night. I hardly talk to mom and dad. Not because I dont want to, but I just forget to call from being busy and they forget too. Anyway. He calls to ask me where I bought his wallet that I gave him. I say, "when was the last time I bought you a wallet? I cant even remember!" He says, "oh, about 3 or 4 YEARS ago." REALLY? Seriously? Dad, I have no clue where I got your wallet! LOL He's a funny guy... But he was dead serious!

** The bug finally kicked for hubby (daddy) on Tuesday. I was so glad he finally got to feel the baby kick! It was a sweet moment. We sat and waited for a minute or so, and then he kicked and hubby says "was that it?!" and I looked up, smiled and just about screamed with excitement, "YES!" Then we sat for another couple minutes and he never moved again. Its too funny, I think he knows when its daddy's hand on mommy's tummy... He sits still! ;)

** My car has developed an oil leak... I just dont get how a 2004, Mazda 3 can have an oil leak. I expect it from an old clunker, but seriously? Oh well, it IS on its 3rd transmission, has been in two accidents and hesitates when idling and feels like it will just cut off! I'd say its a LEMON... And of course, we OWN it so we dont have payments, and its not under warranty. I'm just ready to get a new one! LOL but NOT a Mazda3!

** Hubby is participating in his first Duathalon tomorrow morning. Two of the three parts of a Triathalon. Its a 5K run and then a 15 mile cycling route. I'm excited for him! He's had his bike for about a month and a half and absolutely LOVES cycling!! I'll try to update on this next week to let you know how he finished!

** Ok. I think that's all for now. Its about time to get ready for work. I hope everybody enjoys their weekend!

First Friday Fragments in FOREVER!!

TGIF y'all! If you'd like to join Mrs 4444 for Friday Fragments, click her name or click the pretty button :)

Mommy's Idea

** I never blog anymore. But I've decided to do a Friday Fragments today. I'm starting on this on Tuesday just because I wont take the time to do it all on Friday morning, I'm sure. Alot has been going on since my last Friday Fragments... So here's a little view in our lives lately...

** I'M GONNA HAVE A BABY!!! =D

** The above is the biggest announcement for all (5) of my blogger buddies, some of which who already know! I'm due October 17th. And its a BOY! The hubby and I are super duper excited!

** I realized that I never posted a picture of my shotglass holder on here. I blogged about it way back in October! Its an old glass bottle coke crate, hung on the wall. Perfect sized slots for shotglasses. So here it is:

The states represented are: NC, FL, NY, TX, GA, VT, MA, ME, NH. We also have one from Ireland, Canada and Cozumel. We've visited all the states and Ireland, but not Canada and Cozumel. The latter two were given to us.

**My fragments are struggling as I sit here on FRIDAY MORNING to finish them off and submit! LOL

**My friend Jamie tagged me in her fragments though! YAY. And she too is one of the bestest friends a girl could have! I miss you! even though we live 1 mile from each other! Jamie and I went to Paplys last Saturday and met Terry Lee! Very fun place and an even more fun person to meet! :) I came home with bookends for a friend of mine's nursery. It looks like these bookends were made specifically for her new baby boy!! So excited for her, especially since we're due the same week! ;)

**One day this week, I was sitting at the table eating supper. Hubby was already finished and sitting in the living room. He looks over, smiles real big and says, "You're so pregnant." :) He was grinning from ear to ear. I looked down at my growing belly and said to him, "Yep, I sure am!" It was so sweet and cute.

**We got the Bug's nursery bedding in the mail yesterday! I am so friggin' excited about it! Now if we could just get the crib stripped of paint, sanded and repainted, we'd be doing good!! lol

**I have decided to not put any of my pregnancy complaints on my FB anymore... All I get is unwanted advice like, "oh, get as much sleep now, b/c you'll never sleep again!" and "my babies screamed all the time" and "it only gets worse". Thanks... Granted, some of this advice comes from people I havent seen or talked to since high school (9yrs ago). I do however have a few friends who give encouragement and I'm thankful for them!

**The hubby and I plan to go register for baby stuff this weekend! We have a baby shower to be at in about 32 days in SC, so we're having to do this a little early! Very excited but hopefully I dont get completely overwhelmed. I also hope the hubby  helps in making the decisions on what to get and doesnt just say, "i dont know!" ;) Wish us luck!

**I think that is all for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Now to go comment on some other Fragmenters, if I remember how! LOL

A touch of GREEN...

So, I have been meaning to blog for a long while now, and am just now making the time to do it. I'm joining my friend Jamie at Him, Me, & our Three for her first Green Day! Please click the pretty button to go check her out!

I honestly havent taken any recent green pictures so these are from a little while back. :) Enjoy!

Chalk Falls Nature Trail, just a few miles from the house. This was taken last Spring, shortly after we moved to TX. There were lots of green pics to choose from on that day, but this was one of my faves. :)

These are glasses that I retrieved from my great-uncle Bill's house after his passing. My Nanny (Uncle Bill's sister) was there and she told me that she used to drink from these when she was little! The next pic is one of the comparison pictures of the glasses. Magic Eraser is MAGICAL! ;)

And last but not least, Rigsby in his first cast! It was bright green! Rigs broke his leg in January 2009, and has since healed wonderfully after a couple surgeries and many casts of all colors (including pink!) :)

Friday Fragments

TGIF y'all! If you'd like to join Mrs 4444 for Friday Fragments, click her name or click the pretty button :)

Friday Fragments?

** I am such a slacker! I havent blogged nor really got on blogger more than a handful of times since the hubby got home from BNCOC last month! Sorry to those of you who actually read this and miss me LOL

** What part of "Yield to ramp" do people in Central Texas not understand. I hate it when people dont yield to cars coming onto the access roads! It also bugs me when people straight up STOP on the access road to "yield" to the others. YIELD people, not stop. Just slow down, merge, keep going! GRR!

** The weather around here has been nutso. Last week, it rained all week (which we NEED) and was an average high of probably 60ish. This week, its been an average of probably 80ish. No wonder everybody is sick and sniffly!

** The pup has a rawhide chewy that he LOVES. Well, when he chews it, his beard gets all nasty and crunchy. We take it away from him and clean his beard. Well, he's figured out EXACTLY where we put it. (which is on the bar) He will jump on the back of the couch and sniff and search it out when he wants it back. Such a smart little booger!

** I went antiquing with Jamie yesterday! We went to Georgetown TX. A very charming little town! We stopped at McAlisters and had lunch and then stopped in 5 litte antique stores. The first one was our fave. I bought an old Coke crate that used to carry individual glass bottles. I'm gonna use it as a shotglass display. We have bought a shot glass for every state we've ever visited and actually spent time in. Not just drive thru.  I'll post pics soon!

** My mom called to tell me that my granny has something to give me. She said to call her back the next day and she'll go get it and let me know what it is. The next day, she calls, says she didnt get to granny's house, but talked to granny. She still doesnt know what it is that granny wants to give me..... Drives me nuts! LOL

** Enjoy y'alls weekend!! :)

Fight the fight....

I'm joining my friend, Jamie, in her Fight the Fight series. I dont have anyone very close to me who has fought cancer. My husband, Kyle has. :/ His dad, Jerry, fought the battle and unfortunately lost it. Jerry was 47 yrs old when he was having some major abdominal pains. He went to the doctor to find out that he needed to get his gall bladder taken out because of gallstones. They had to do some testing on his lungs and such to see if he could withstand the surgery and they found it.... a spot of unknown on his lungs. They did further testing, biopsis (sp?) and found that it sure enough was cancer. They dubbed it "lung cancer" because that is the FIRST place they found it. Jerry was a smoker, but they didnt blame that. He underwent more and more tests and eventually they found it everywhere. Liver, lymphnodes, stomach, and brain. He had chemotherapy. His hair fell out. He had a full beard for as long as I had known him and for as long as Kyle could remember. He REALLY didnt look the same. He eventually was sent home, for there was nothing else they could do for him. He was on a morphine drip for a few weeks. On Prom day 2001, Kyle had left to get lunch for everybody at home before he started getting ready to take ME to the prom. While he was gone, his dad died. Dianne, his mom, was standing at the kitchen window when she felt a breeze of air. She looked over to the door and no one had come in. She went to Jerry's bedside and he passed VERY soon after. We all believe just maybe it was the angels coming to take Jerry home.  We did end up going to prom that night. :) We didnt stay long. We ate, we danced, we headed home early. I know Kyle's dad would be SO proud of him. He didnt see him join the Army, he didnt see him get married, he wont meet our children.... in person. I feel for sure Jerry watches over us though.

Our best picture of Kyle's dad, which never gets packed up when we move. I make it a point to carry it on the road with us during moving. Jerry is on the left, his brother Terry on the right. :) Thanks for stopping by. If you have a story you'd like to share, head on over to Jamie's Fight the fight series for a chance to win her giveaway!!
